We Met Joseph!

Our first visit went well. We arrived a little after 10am and were taken to the director's office to chat about Joseph. We had about a ten minute visit with her about visitation hours and just chatting about some of the other children who were recently adopted from this orphanage and how they're doing. Then, the door opened and in walked one of the workers carrying a very disgruntled Joseph. Obviously, he was in the middle of something very important back in the playroom and really couldn't be disturbed with meeting Mommy and Daddy. I handled it like a veteran Mom and imposed myself directly into his personal space. Sorry, buddy, Mommy waited a long time for this day.

We have tons more video, but it's taking forever to load. We stayed for about two hours and loved on our boy as much as he would let us. He loves to sit in the ball pit and make all kinds of noises and funny facial expressions. He did take to Marty more than me, which I totally expected. He would let me hold his hand, but would reach for Marty to pick him up. He even snuggled in for a few minutes.
Isn't he precious? A Daddy's boy already. Marty is so good with him. They make strange noises together and blow spit bubbles. We're even more anxious now to get our boy home and love on him and watch what God can do in his little life. He has so much potential, we just have to help him find and reach it.

In case you were wondering, Joseph weighs just 20 lbs and is 5 days older than our Julie, who is a small six year old herself. She weighs 44 lbs. We knew he was small, but to hold him. Oh my heart...it's like holding a toddler. Such a tiny love. We're so thankful God has trusted us with the care of this little love.

  10. Hello Mandy, I am a friend of Susie Townsend, Gail Werner, Nydia Wilson and Cindi Thornton. I have been reading their posts about raising money for your adoption. I have such a heart for adoption. I have not been able to participate in any of the fundraising because I just don't have it right now. I just had surgery a few weeks ago. One thing I can do and will do is pray for you and your family. Watching this video brought me to tears. Even though I don't have the money to help with this, our Heavenly Father does.
My friend Laurel and her husband adopted a beautiful little girl from China 4 years ago. They were planning to adopt again this year, this time a special needs child from China, and had over $11,000.00 saved, and their accountant (they own their own business), failed to do something with their taxes and it wound up costing them all they had saved. I felt her heart ache, just as I do yours in this video. I believe God has special rewards for those who adopt.
I too would love to adopt someday, but right now my health is not well, and I turned 42 today and my husband is 52. I know if we are to do this-- at any age, God will sustain us just as he did Sarah and Abraham.
I'm sorry to have rambled on. Blessings to you and your family and I pray you have a Happy Thanksgiving. Joseph is in my prayers, and I pray God will move mountains for you in ways you've never experienced before.

  11. Thank you, Michelle. We will take all the prayers we can get. We're blessed by each person who is joining us on this journey and in the fight for the orphans. Everyone has a part and if your part is prayer, then remember that prayer changes things! Prayer is the MOST important part.

    Blessings!
